The state is divided into seven regions. Please see the map below. 

Yes! Current Community Leaders do not need to fill out a nomination form but will need to fill out an application if they are interested in continuing to serve as a Community Leader. Current Community Leaders should have received an email application on August 2, 2023. If you did not, please reach out to Megan Mansouri, U4C marketing manager, at mansourim@united4children.org to receive an application link. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on August 17. 

Nominations for Community Leaders will be accepted through 5 p.m. on August 11. As we receive nominations, we will reach out to invite nominees to apply. Applications will be accepted until noon on August 28 to allow time for potential Community Leaders to bring the application to their board. If accepting the role is contingent on your board’s approval, please note that in your application. 

While the deadline has now passed, we are still looking for school districts, universities, and public agencies to sign up to be a part of leading their region’s efforts.  If you are interested, please reach out to Krysta Grangeno at grangenok@united4children.org.

Once the application is closed on August 17th, the selection committee comprised of members from U4C and OOC will evaluate all submissions utilizing a rubric. There will be 2-4 spots available per region. Stakeholders (community partners, area agencies, community members, etc.) will vote for the finalists when a region has more qualified applicants than available Community Leader spots. All applicants will be notified if they have been selected to be a community leader by August 31st. 

Community Leader Selection Rubric 

Each chosen Community Leader will be asked to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with U4C to confirm acceptance of their role as a Community Leader; this is a voluntary contract. The agreement may be terminated with a notice of 30 calendar days. 

U4C will hold monthly technical assistance meetings with each region’s Community Leaders. U4C will also host a Quarterly State-wide Community Leader Connection Meetings. 

U4C will develop a digital space where Community Leaders can access resources. U4C will share information about Community Leaders via social media, email campaigns, and the U4C website. 

You will also receive capacity-building support for marketing and communications materials. 

Community Leaders are required to host new or attend already established stakeholder meetings.  U4C will provide technical assistance support for community leaders to host these meetings based on their specific needs, as needed. 

Budgets will be determined based on the needs of each community leader and each region. Each community leader will start with a baseline budget of $10,000. U4C will work with each community leader to establish an appropriate budget reflective of individual needs.  Community Leaders will provide a 50% match. This match can be in-hand or in-kind. Community leaders must match 50% of the amount that U4C is contributing to the budget. For example, if U4C is contributing $10,000 to the budget the community leader needs to contribute $5,000. Below is a list of examples of what your 50% match as a Community Leader might look like.  

Your 50% match may be:  

• A portion of a staff’s time.  
• Donated meeting space as part of your in-kind match based on what it would cost for someone to rent that space.  
• Volunteer hours that are supporting for this work (you may calculate $31.80 per hour per volunteer as part of your in-kind match).  
• If you are covering printing costs, that could also go toward your match.  

U4C’s 50% match may be:  

• U4C provides the tools and training you need to be successful in donor stewardship and solicitation – including training on prospecting, solicitation, donor stewardship, and grant writing for up to three people from your team.  
• U4C aiding on how to meet with a funder and solicit funding for your organization.  
• U4C identifying funder opportunities across the state for you.  
• U4C serves as a fiscal agent if you are not able to collect donations.  
• While the match does not have to be in-hand, it must be committed and documented.

Each Community Leader will submit an invoice to U4C by the 10th of each month for the previous month’s activities.
