This May brought unforeseen challenges to our community, including to our very own office, which was impacted by the recent tornado that swept through the St. Louis region. While we were grateful no one on our team was injured, the damage reminded us just how deeply these events disrupt the lives of families, children, and child care providers. Within hours of the storm, our team mobilized to help coordinate relief efforts, especially for displaced child care providers and families navigating sudden uncertainty.
We launched targeted outreach campaigns, shared critical crisis resources through united4children.org/crisisresources, and connected directly with affected providers to assess needs and offer support. Our specialists continued providing guidance, technical assistance, and referrals to ensure families could maintain access to safe, stable care during a chaotic time.
Despite the setback to our physical space, our team remained fully operational thanks to remote capabilities and the resilience that defines our organization.
We are thankful for the efforts of our partner organizations at the St. Louis Early Childhood Tornado Response Team and proud to serve a community that comes together in times of need.
