Marketing & Communications Coordinator (Full-time)

Job Title: Marketing & Communications Coordinator 

Reports To: Advancement Officer 

Salary Expectation: $38,000 – $45,000  

Anticipated Start Date: December 1, 2020 

SUMMARY 

Assists in advancing the organization’s mission through strategic marketing and communication. Manages the Agency’s internal and external communications. Establishes a positive public image and controls the dissemination of information on behalf of the Agency.  Promotes cooperative relationships between clients and organization. Familiar with a variety of marketing and communication concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity is expected. Some administrative duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Work directly with Advancement Officer to identify and execute project needs and specifications for promotional and fundraising literature and activities 
  • Design and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies to create awareness of the organization and our mission 
  • Responsible for creating and monitoring all agency collateral and marketing standards by working with each Project Director include agency-wide development and fundraising collateral such as annual report, annual campaign collateral, newsletters, event promotions, media opportunities, service brochures, etc.
  • Build and strengthen strategic media partnerships
  • Manage social media presence to improve social media reputation and recognition
  • Work with partner agencies on all public collaborative materials
  • Responsible for maintaining communication databases
  • Collect and analyze marketing and communication data
  • Stay apprise of and educated on market trends and standards 
  • Maintain pulse on trends in early childhood education and be able to communicate findings and alignment with U4C programs 
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Participate in on-going personal professional development, including the development of an annual Professional Development Plan which outlines areas of strength, areas of challenge, and plans for improving knowledge and skills 
  • Complete all necessary agency/program reporting in a timely manner 
  • Participate in agency committees, events, staff meetings, community partner meetings, and community events 
  • Develop supportive relationships with a diverse group of adults (internally and externally)  
  • Represent U4C according to the agency’s vision, mission, and core values 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES PREFERRED

  • Proven knowledge of communications and marketing ethics and best practices 
  • Experience with Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher) and donor management systems 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE  

Bachelor’s degree in communications and/or marketing and at least 2 year’s relevant experience preferred or equivalent combination of education experience. Strong writing, editing, proofreading and layout/design skills are essential. Experience in non-profit marketing and communications preferred.

Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation as needed, and carry automobile insurance with the required level ($300,000/$100,000) of liability insurance.

Office Manager & Executive Assistant (Full-time)

Job Title: Office Manager & Executive Assistant 

Reports To: Executive Director

Salary Expectation: $38,000 – $45,000

SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, provides administrative assistance to the office. Will work with the Executive Director to coordinate office operations and procedures. Must be familiar with a variety of communication concepts, practices, procedures, as well as technological acumen. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Serves as the first contact for the Agency
  • Coordinates office administration activities and initiatives with management and U4C key staff
  • Implements administrative duties: process US mail, manage emails, handle telephone calls, maintain office supplies, schedule appointments/meetings, database entry, prepare bank deposits, enter payroll,
  • Track & maintain computer equipment, telephone system, software/computer hardware, and coordinate with vendors as point of contact, some basic troubleshooting
  • Maintain office condition and arrange necessary repairs with building maintenance. Works with building manager on safety practices
  • Communicates Human Resources processes: Maintain employee handbook and coordinate Lyons HR supports with employees, create and maintain employee personnel files, offer/termination letters, I-9 binders, benefit documents, new hire orientations, job descriptions, training, evaluations, and terminations, works closely with H.R. professional employment organization vendor on HR issues
  • Light Development duties: data entry, donor communications, reporting
  • Executive Director support: coordinate board meetings and communications, manage board data, maintain NEON database for community connections, support scheduling and communications, maintain meeting notes
  • Volunteer coordination and data management
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required to perform essential function and reasonable accommodations can be made
  • Other duties as assigned

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Data Entry

Job Title:       Data Entry Assistant

Purpose:  The position of the Data Entry Assistant will assist staff with the input of training surveys into NEON a training database software or Microsoft Excel.

Location:  The Data Entry Assistant works at the agency’s office at 1310 Papin, Suite 100B, St. Louis, MO 63103.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Data Entry Assistant will enter all training surveys into NEON.
  • The Data Entry Assistant will generate a report of the surveys if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reports to:  Communications Specialist

Length of Appointment:  The Data Entry Assistant is assigned to one day per week or however many hours the volunteer chooses.

Time Commitment:  One day per week (M, W, or F) for six hours 9-12 am and 1-4 pm).

Qualifications:  Basic knowledge of computer and data entry, Pleasant manner, patience, problem-solving ability, dependability.

Support:  Training for the position will be provided.  In addition, the Training and Customer Service Specialist will be available for questions and assistance.

Age Requirement:  18 and over

Dress Code:  Business casual

Finance Committee

FINANCE COMMITTEE

The Finance Committee shall develop and recommend to the board those financial policies, plans, and courses of action that provide for mission accomplishment and organizational financial well-being including the annual budget and audit; will review financial reports and make fiscal recommendations as needed.  The committee meets bi-monthly.

The Fund Development Committee member shall assist the Development Officer and Executive Director in creating and implementing the fund development plan. This committee meets monthly.

Intern/Practicum Student

DESCRIPTION

United 4 Children (U4C) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. U4C’s mission improves the social, emotional, physical, and educational wellbeing of our children by enriching the knowledge of families, teachers, and caregivers. United 4 Children is seeking an intern or practicum student who is looking to gain experience with a small non-profit in a variety of core activities. This is part-time and schedule is flexible.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Working on a Bachelor’s degree or higher with an interest in nonprofit development and or administration is desired. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter; goal oriented and comfortable working independently as well as with a team. This role will offer experience in fund development, finance, database management, event planning, grant writing. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, exceptional organizational skills, and experience in social media is a necessity.

LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

The fundamentals for a nonprofit career will be experienced. All aspects of growing the agency through advocacy, board building, marketing, advertising, event planning, database analysis, generating reports for a fund development plan, grant writing, recruit volunteers, identify new donors will be experienced.
